Lynn Dennison

Lynn Dennison’s paintings fuse personal reminiscence, emotion and memories. Her work whether it is painting or paper sculpture, explores the connected themes of gender, inheritance and above all the meaning of being female. Everyone can identify with the visual world she creates, a landscape of myth and memory that we all recognise and share. Her sources are drawn from the broader landscape of art history and also entail the physical and emotional factors children and youths can be influenced by.

Lynn’s technique allows her to give each painting its own texture. She paints with oil directly on microcrystalline wax, which has been applied on to layers of painted paper. The painted or sometimes pre-printed paper, backing the paintings often reinforces the mood of the story or subject.

Lynn Dennison lives and works in London.
